We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Greener Charge, a new tool we’ve developed internally at DabApps to help electric vehicle owners make an even bigger positive impact on carbon emissions.

Making a good thing even better

If you drive an electric vehicle, you’ve already made a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions. But did you know that with minor adjustments to your charging habits, you could reduce your carbon footprint even further?

Greener Charge is a simple but effective tool that compares the carbon intensity of the UK electricity grid tonight versus tomorrow night, helping you decide when to plug in your EV for overnight charging. Our simulations suggest this approach could reduce charging-related carbon emissions by approximately 25% over the course of a year.

Why we built it

As part of our growing focus on clean technology and sustainability solutions, we wanted to explore the technical possibilities of working with carbon intensity APIs. Greener Charge has been an exciting R&D project that utilises data from the National Energy System Operator’s Grid Intensity Forecast API to deliver actionable insights for EV owners.

The project aligns perfectly with our company values and our commitment to developing software that contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions and the transition to renewable energy.
